Clouds have streamed across the area today but there have been bouts of sunshine in between. The clouds have decreased in coverage across much of the area, except portions of southern IL near the I-64 corridor this afternoon. 3pm temperatures have jumped into the 80s, with a few spots reporting upper 80s where sunshine has been more prevalent. Isolated showers and thunderstorms have bubbled up over parts of the area this afternoon, with southern Illinois seeing the strongest of these. A rather unsettled pattern will be in place through the first part of the weekend with daily chances of showers and thunderstorms over parts of or all of the area. The best coverage looks to be Wednesday into Thursday as a cold front approaches from the Plains states, and again on Saturday. There will be many dry hours over this time period though. Temperatures will slowly cool down from highs in the mid to upper 80s on Wednesday to around 80 this weekend. Lows will mainly be in the 60s through this period. && For a more detailed meteorological discussion, please refer to the Area Forecast Discussion product (PIL SDFAFDPAH). $$ Ag Weather Center, Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering, University of Kentucky |
