Across Kentucky...temperatures are near 39 degrees west, near 34 degrees central, and near 39 degrees east. Current sky conditions are partly sunny west, cloudy central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 82%, and the dew point is near 34 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 85%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 70%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. Current drying conditions are poor west, poor central, and fair east. Tobacco stripping conditions are favorable west, favorable central, and marginal east. Winds are from the southeast at 7 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Temperatures for the period averaged 32 degrees across the state which was 10 degrees cooler than normal and 12 degrees cooler than the previous period. High temperatures averaged from 38 in the West to 39 in the East. Departure from normal high temperatures ranged from 13 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 13 degrees cooler than normal in the East. Low temperatures averaged from 26 degrees in the West to 26 degrees in the East. Departure from normal low temperature ranged from 7 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 5 degrees cooler than normal in the East. The extreme high temperature for the period was 51 degrees at BURKESVILLE 3W and the extreme low was 16 degrees at OWINGSVILLE 4S.

Precipitation (liq. equ.) for the period totaled 0.57 inches statewide which was 0.43 inches below normal and 57% of normal. Precipitation totals by climate division, West 0.47 inches, Central 0.61 inches, Bluegrass 0.44 inches and East 0.76 inches, which was 0.55, 0.46, 0.43 and 0.26 inches below normal. A great snowstorm hit the southern Appalachain Mountains. The three day
storm produced 25 inches at Rome GA, 33 inches at Asheville NC, and 42
inches in the mountains. Montgomery AL received a record eleven inches of

Another in a series of storms brought high winds and heavy rain to the
northwestern U.S., with heavy snow in some of the higher elevations. In
northern California, Crescent City was drenched with 2.58 inches of rain,
and winds gusted to 90 mph. Up to fourteen inches of snow blanketed the
mountains of northern California, and snow and high winds created blizzard
