Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Georgia
Based on observations at 400pm EDT, Sunday July 12, 2026

Across Georgia...temperatures are near 87 degrees north, near 77 degrees central, and near 87 degrees south. Current sky conditions are partly sunny north, cloudy central, and mostly sunny south. In the north, relative humidity is near 52%, and the dew point is near 68 degrees. The heat index is near 90 degrees north. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 87%, and the dew point is near 73 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 62%, and the dew point is near 73 degrees. The heat index is near 94 degrees south. The livestock heat stress category is danger north, no stress central, and danger south. There is thunder central. Winds are from the northwest at 3 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the north at 20 mph with gusts at 30 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the southwest at 12 mph with gusts at 23 mph south, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 100 degrees at Brunswick. The lowest temperature is 77 degrees at Macon.

 DAY ONE  This Afternoon and Tonight  

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for portions of eastern
and central Georgia until 9 PM tonight. Damaging wind gusts up to
60 mph will be possible with any storms which do form.

Numerous to widespread thunderstorms are expected this afternoon 
and evening. Some storms may become strong to severe and capable 
of producing gusty to damaging winds, frequent lightning, large 
hail, and localized flash flooding concerns. 

A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of east central Georgia
from noon to 8PM. Heat index values up to 108 are expected. 

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Monday through Saturday  

Numerous to widespread thunderstorms are likely on Monday and
Tuesday. Some storms may become strong to severe and capable of 
producing gusty to damaging winds, frequent lightning, and 
locally heavy rainfall. 

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are likely each day through 
Saturday.

JULY 12TH...HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS
...1951...
The Kaw River flood occurred. The month of June that year was the wettest
of record for the state of Kansas, and during the four days preceding the
flood much of eastern Kansas and western Missouri received more than ten
inches of rain. Flooding in the Midwest claimed 41 lives, left 200 thousand
persons homeless, and caused a billion dollars property damage. Kansas City
was hardest hit. The central industrial district sustained 870 million

Lightning struck a large broiler house in Branford FL, and the ensuing fire
broiled 11,000 nearly ready broilers. Firemen were able to save a few
thousand chickens, however. (The Weather Channel)

Cool air invaded the High Plains Region. Eight cities reported record low
temperatures for the date, including Sheridan WY with a reading of 37
degrees. Thunderstorms developing along the cold front in the central U.S.
produced 6.5 inches of rain at Fort Dodge IA, and 2.5 inches in one hour at

Evening thunderstorms produced severe weather over the Dakotas, including
baseball size hail at Aberdeen SD, and softball size hail near Fullerton
ND. Thunderstorms produced heavy rain in Arkansas and northeastern Texas,
with 6.59 inches reported at Mesquite TX in just an hour and fifteen
minutes. Garland TX reported water up to the tops of cars following a

Early morning thunderstorms over eastern Kansas deluged McFarland with more
than six inches of rain. Afternoon thunder- storms in Wyoming produced up
to eighteen inches of dime size hail near Rock Springs, along with
torrential rains, and a three foot high wall of mud and water swept into
the town causing more than 1.5 million dollars damage. Evening
thunderstorms produced severe weather in Oklahoma and Arkansas, deluging
Dardanelle AR with 3.50 inches of rain in less than twenty minutes. About
seventy cows were killed when lightning struck a tree in Jones County TX.
