901 WTUS84 KCRP 101813 HLSCRP TXZ229>234-239>247-342>347-442-443-447-110215- Tropical Storm Francine Local Statement Intermediate Advisory Number 8A National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX AL062024 113 PM CDT Tue Sep 10 2024 This product covers South Texas **TROPICAL STORM FRANCINE MOVING AWAY, WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT OVER THE OFFSHORE WATERS ** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - All watches and warnings have been canceled * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * STORM INFORMATION: - About 210 miles southeast of Port Aransas TX or about 230 miles south-southeast of Port Oconnor TX - 25.3N 95.2W - Storm Intensity 65 mph - Movement Northeast or 35 degrees at 9 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ The Tropical Storm Warning over the nearshore waters and the Watch along the immediate coast and bays has been discontinued as Tropical Storm Francine is no longer expected to impact these areas. The Tropical Storm Warning over the offshore waters remains in effect through Wednesday morning. However, as conditions improve and Francine moves away, the remaining Warning may also be discontinued on a later forecast package. Currently, Francine is moving towards the northeast at around 9 MPH. Some of the outer rainbands of this storm will continue to impact the coastal waters and portions of the Coastal Bend today. Further intensification of this system is still expected, with the storm becoming a hurricane either later this afternoon or overnight. Francine is forecast to become a category 1 hurricane before making landfall along the Louisiana coast Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday night. This is the last Hurricane Local Statement for this event. Coastal flooding will persist through at least Wednesday night across all area beaches, along with a High risk of rip currents. Inundation of up to 3 feet may continue in these areas. Seas and waves will remain elevated through Wednesday morning. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * WIND: Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across South Texas. * SURGE: Little to no additional surge impacts expected. However, coastal flooding with up to 3 feet inundation will remain possible through at least Wednesday morning. * FLOODING RAIN: Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across South Texas. * TORNADOES: Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across South Texas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS ---------------------------------- Numerous roads will likely be closed. Beach roads will be impassable. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur. Rip currents can sweep even the most experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
