594 FNUS53 KJKL 022030 FWFJKL Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Kentucky National Weather Service Jackson KY 430 PM EDT Wed Oct 2 2024 .DISCUSSION...Low stratus continues to erode across the area this afternoon as slightly drier air moves in from the northwest. But fog and low stratus will redevelop overnight while high pressure builds across the region. Temperatures will average about 10 degrees above normal through the remainder of the week, with maximum afternoon temperatures around 80 and overnight lows in the 50s. Other than some isolated rain showers over the higher terrain Friday afternoon, the next best chance of rain will hold off until Sunday night as a cold front sweeps through eastern Kentucky. This front will usher in a cooler air mass which will drop temperatures back down to normal levels for much of next week.
