.SYNOPSIS...
As a weak cold front slowly crosses the region, scattered to 
numerous rain showers will continue over portions of eastern and 
southern Vermont today, and taper off tonight. Dry weather is 
expected for Friday along with gusty northwesterly winds. Tranquil 
conditions follow for the weekend into early next week, with rain 
and snow showers likely Tuesday through Wednesday.

Across Vermont...temperatures are near 42 degrees north, near 41 degrees central, and near 41 degrees south. Current sky conditions are cloudy north, cloudy central, and cloudy south. In the north, relative humidity is near 79%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 89%, and the dew point is near 38 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 89%, and the dew point is near 38 degrees. Winds are from the northwest at 8 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
