Across Virginia...temperatures are near 49 degrees north, near 48 degrees central, and near 49 degrees south. Current sky conditions are cloudy north, light rain central, and cloudy south. In the north, relative humidity is near 90%, and the dew point is near 46 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 93%, and the dew point is near 46 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 93%, and the dew point is near 47 degrees. Winds are from the north at 6 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are calm central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to light rain. Winds are from the northeast at 7 mph south, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 50 degrees at Norfolk. The lowest temperature is RAIN degrees at Roanoke.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
