A wet Tuesday is on tap for most locations as rain continues to
spread over much of the region. Chances for precipitation continue
over various parts of the area through the remainder of the work
week, with even a little snow possible over some locations.
Seasonal temperatures are expected today into Wednesday before a
cooling trend develops for the second part of the work week.

Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in South Dakota
Based on observations at 300am CDT, Tuesday April 16, 2024

Across South Dakota...temperatures are near 52 degrees west, near 64 degrees central, and near 58 degrees east. Current sky conditions are not available west, light rain central, and thunderstorms east. In the west, relative humidity is near 93%, and the dew point is near 50 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 57%, and the dew point is near 49 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 72%, and the dew point is near 49 degrees. Winds are from the northwest at 10 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to not available. Winds are from the southwest at 26 mph with gusts at 58 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds and light rain. Winds are from the south at 20 mph with gusts at 30 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds and thunderstorms. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 64 degrees at PIERRE. The lowest temperature is 46 degrees at CUSTER .

Hazardous Weather Outlook For MCCOOK County,SD

706 PM CDT Mon Apr 15 2024

 DAY ONE  Tonight.

Elevated fire danger will persist through the evening hours as
humidity slowly increases along with persistent gusty southeast 
winds gusting to 35-40 mph.

A strong low pressure system will begin to impact the area this
evening. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, with those counties
along the Missouri River at the highest risk for severe weather. The
most likely threat from these storms are large hail up to 1.5 inches
and damaging wind gusts.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Tuesday through Sunday.

Showers and thunderstorms progress northeastward Tuesday morning,
bringing more chances for strong to severe thunderstorms. A
secondary line of thunderstorms is possible late Tuesday morning. 
This line is expected to impact areas east of I-29. The greatest 
threat with these storms are again large hail up to 1.5 inches, 
damaging wind gusts, and a low chance for a tornado or two. A 
widespread half inch to two inches of rain is expected by Wednesday, 
along with isolated amounts of 2+ inches. Be sure to continue to 
monitor the forecast for updates.
