Current sky conditions are sunny west, mostly sunny central, and sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 48%, and the dew point is near 39 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 55%, and the dew point is near 42 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 43%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. Winds are from the south at 7 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the south at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel) ...1920... The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum) ...1997... Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
