A ridge of high pressure will build into the eastern Great Lakes and 
Ohio Valley today and remain in place through Saturday morning, 
providing a stretch of dry and cool weather. Low pressure will then 
move across the southern Great Lakes late Saturday through early 
Sunday, bringing a chance of some rain and wet snow.

Across New York...temperatures are near 35 degrees west, near 41 degrees central, and near 47 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly cloudy west, cloudy central, and light rain east. In the west, relative humidity is near 64%, and the dew point is near 24 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 55%, and the dew point is near 26 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 93%, and the dew point is near 45 degrees. Winds are coming from the west at 6 mph in the west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 30 degrees west. Winds are coming from the west at 9 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the northeast at 5 mph in the east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to light rain. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 49 degrees at Central Park. The lowest temperature is 27 degrees at Jamestown.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
