Current sky conditions are cloudy west, partly sunny central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 86%, and the dew point is near 48 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 66%, and the dew point is near 45 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 69%, and the dew point is near 45 degrees. Winds are from the south at 14 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the southeast at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. All NWS Radars (In near-real time), Current Livestock Heat Stress Index (LSI), Current Wind Chill Map Hazardous Weather Outlook For LOUP County, Nebraska 504 AM CDT Thu Apr 25 2024 /404 AM MDT Thu Apr 25 2024/ DAY ONE Today and tonight. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible this morning, mainly for the Sandhills through central Nebraska. While severe weather is not expected with this activity, brief moderate downpours and frequent lightning are the main concerns. After a lull during the daytime, rain and thunderstorms become likely by early Thursday evening. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible with the main concerns being large hail, locally heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Though confidence in occurrence is low, damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two cannot be ruled out south of Interstate 80. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Friday through Wednesday. Rain and thunderstorms continue into early Friday morning. Though the severe threat is expected to decrease, the threat for heavy rain will increase. While the threat for flash flooding appears low at this time, low-land flooding will be possible before activity wanes by Friday evening into early Saturday with rainfall amounts of a half inch up to an inch and a half forecast across western Nebraska. Another storm, quick on the heels of the first one, will arrive late in the day Saturday. Renewed thunderstorm development including the threat for additional heavy rain will be likely through the overnight and into the day Sunday. New rainfall amounts of a half inch to an inch and a half are again possible. Where these two rounds of precipitation overlap the most will have the potential of seeing 2 to 3 inches of total rain Thursday through Sunday. SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT Spotter activation will likely be needed later today, mainly for areas south of Interstate 80.
