Expect a noticeable warmup today, with most areas seeing highs 
climb above freezing, and even some lower 50s over southeast
Montana and western South Dakota.

A low pressure system will bring chances for mixed precipitation
across the region tonight into Friday, with mostly light freezing
rain in southern North Dakota and mostly snow to the north. 
Expect 30s and 40s for highs through the weekend, with additional 
chances for snow across southern parts of the region.

Across North Dakota...temperatures are near 31 degrees west, near 33 degrees central, and near 36 degrees east. Current sky conditions are cloudy west, sunny central, and sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 69%, and the dew point is near 22 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 51%, and the dew point is near 17 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 44%, and the dew point is near 16 degrees. Winds are from the southeast at 15 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the southeast at 14 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are variable at 3 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 36 degrees at YANKTON. The lowest temperature is SUNNY degrees at GRAND FORKS.

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Friday through Wednesday

A quick moving system will bring a wintry mix to eastern North 
Dakota into northwest Minnesota Friday into Saturday morning. 
There is a 30% chance for minor winter impacts from light snow and
ice accumulations. The chance for more substantial, warning level
impacts remains very low, less than 10%.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
