Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in North Carolina
Based on observations at 700am EDT, Thursday March 28, 2024

Across North Carolina...temperatures are near 47 degrees west, near 49 degrees central, and near 52 degrees east. Current sky conditions are partly cloudy west, cloudy central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 63%, and the dew point is near 35 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 48 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 51 degrees. Winds are from the north at 10 mph with gusts at 22 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the northeast at 5 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the north at 9 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 62 degrees at Beaufort. The lowest temperature is 39 degrees at Jefferson.

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
