...New DISCUSSION...

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 152 PM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024

Tonight and Friday: Continued dry through the period with cooler
than normal temperatures tonight followed by near normal afternoon
highs Friday. Mid afternoon satellite imagery/RAP analysis showed a
mid level ridge over the central CONUS resulting in northwest flow
aloft across our region. This ridge will shift east through Friday
and its axis will be centered over our CWA by Friday evening. Latest
surface analysis had a 1022mb high centered over southern Louisiana.
This surface high will continue shifting east through Friday as well.
This will result in a light return flow across our CWA by Friday
morning and combined with near full insolation again, temperatures
will top out in the low to mid 70s. /22/

Friday night through next Thursday...

A fairly quiet stretch is expected for the majority of the extended
forecast period. By Friday night, mid-level zonal flow will maintain
westerly winds into the middle levels. At the surface, a high
pressure centered over the Florida Peninsula will continue expanding
across the southeast CONUS, inhibiting convection across the region.
Increasing heights and low level southerly flow will increase
temperatures through the beginning of next week. Highs are expected
to climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s by Monday and Tuesday and
conditions are expected to remain dry until early Tuesday morning.

By Monday evening, an upper low is progged to track across the Mid-
West region and swing a trough axis across the Lower Mississippi
Valley and TN/Ohio River Valley. This is expected to bring showers
and storms into the region, some strong. Severe weather is outlooked
just northeast of the CWA, so we will not rule out any severe
potential this early. The forecast will likely change over the next
several days. /AJ/
