.AVIATION...
For the 20/00z TAFs, gusty south winds may diminish slightly after
sunset at KELD and KMLU, but sustained speeds at most sites will
remain between 7 and 15 kts with gusts near 25 kts. Sustained
speeds will likely increase back to 12 to 15 kts after sunrise
Tuesday morning. VFR ceilings are expected to lower into the MVFR
range by 20/06z as low level moisture continues to surge
northward. Clouds will slowly lift during the day, but MVFR flight
conditions may persist across East Texas.

Scattered convection is already ongoing to the west and northwest
of the area. This activity will gradually move south and east
through the period. Showers or thunderstorms may begin to affect
KTYR or KTXK by 20/18z.

Hazardous Weather Outlook For EVANGELINE County, LA

319 PM CST Mon Feb 19 2018

DAY ONE This Afternoon and Tonight

Breezy conditions will continue until sunset. Some very light
patchy fog may occur near the coast during the overnight.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Tuesday through Sunday

A cold front will approach the forecast area on Wednesday before
stalling out just north of the forecast area late Wednesday into
Thursday. Copious amounts of Gulf moisture will ride up ahead of
the front with widespread showers and a few thunderstorms
developing. There is still some uncertainty of where the front
will stall out. However, the potential for heavy rainfall will
occur right along and behind the frontal boundary. Therefore,
upper portions of Southeast Texas and Central Louisiana will have
an elevated chance of seeing heavy rainfall compared to the
remainder of the forecast area. Rainfall amounts will average
between 1 and 1.5 inches over upper Southeast Texas and Central
Louisiana with locally higher amounts. The Weather Prediction
Center has outlined that area in a Marginal Risk of seeing
excessive rainfall. There will also be a lightning hazard for
scattered thunderstorms with cloud to ground lightning for the
entire forecast area.

Another cold front will move into the forecast area late Saturday
and early Sunday with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
Locally heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning will be the
main hazards with the storms.

 SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT

Spotter activation will not be needed.
