National Weather Service Shreveport LA 607 PM CST Mon Feb 19 2018 .AVIATION... For the 20/00z TAFs, gusty south winds may diminish slightly after sunset at KELD and KMLU, but sustained speeds at most sites will remain between 7 and 15 kts with gusts near 25 kts. Sustained speeds will likely increase back to 12 to 15 kts after sunrise Tuesday morning. VFR ceilings are expected to lower into the MVFR range by 20/06z as low level moisture continues to surge northward. Clouds will slowly lift during the day, but MVFR flight conditions may persist across East Texas. Scattered convection is already ongoing to the west and northwest of the area. Hazardous Weather Outlook For ACADIA County, LA
319 PM CST Mon Feb 19 2018 DAY ONE This Afternoon and Tonight Breezy conditions will continue until sunset. Some very light patchy fog may occur near the coast during the overnight. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Tuesday through Sunday A cold front will approach the forecast area on Wednesday before stalling out just north of the forecast area late Wednesday into Thursday. Copious amounts of Gulf moisture will ride up ahead of the front with widespread showers and a few thunderstorms developing. There is still some uncertainty of where the front will stall out. However, the potential for heavy rainfall will occur right along and behind the frontal boundary. Therefore, upper portions of Southeast Texas and Central Louisiana will have an elevated chance of seeing heavy rainfall compared to the remainder of the forecast area. Rainfall amounts will average between 1 and 1.5 inches over upper Southeast Texas and Central Louisiana with locally higher amounts. The Weather Prediction Center has outlined that area in a Marginal Risk of seeing excessive rainfall. There will also be a lightning hazard for scattered thunderstorms with cloud to ground lightning for the entire forecast area. Another cold front will move into the forecast area late Saturday and early Sunday with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning will be the main hazards with the storms. SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT Spotter activation will not be needed.
