...Mostly Cloudy & Cooler Today...

Kentucky is roughly 20 degrees cooler than yesterday with the passage of a cold front. As of 430 PM, most of the state sits in the upper 30s to low 40s. Lows tonight will dip into the middle to upper 20s with some stray light wintry precipitation. Not expecting impacts with the warm ground temperatures in place.

After another similar cool day tomorrow, warmer temperatures arrive again for the end of the work week, along with dry conditions.

Across Kentucky...temperatures are near 29 degrees west, near 33 degrees central, and near 32 degrees east. Current sky conditions are fair west, cloudy central, and light snow east. In the west, relative humidity is near 85%, and the dew point is near 25 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 75%, and the dew point is near 26 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 92%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. Current drying conditions are poor west, fair central, and poor east. Tobacco stripping conditions are favorable west, marginal central, and favorable east. There is patchy fog east. Winds are from the southwest at 3 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 9 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 25 degrees central. Winds are from the west at 10 mph with gusts at 21 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds and light snow. The wind chill is near 24 degrees east. The livestock cold stress index is in the no stress category west, no stress category central, and no stress category east. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 37 degrees at Hopkinsville and Bowling Green. The lowest temperature is 29 degrees at Paducah.

Temperatures for the period averaged 32 degrees across the state which was 1 degrees cooler than normal and 4 degrees cooler than the previous period. High temperatures averaged from 39 in the West to 43 in the East. Departure from normal high temperatures ranged from 4 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 0 degrees from normal in the East. Low temperatures averaged from 23 degrees in the West to 22 degrees in the East. Departure from normal low temperature ranged from 2 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 1 degrees cooler than normal in the East. The extreme high temperature for the period was 68 degrees at LOUISA 1S and the extreme low was -17 degrees at MONTICELLO AWOS.

Precipitation (liq. equ.) for the period totaled 0.29 inches statewide which was 0.54 inches below normal and 35% of normal. Precipitation totals by climate division, West 0.52 inches, Central 0.27 inches, Bluegrass 0.17 inches and East 0.18 inches, which was 0.36, 0.61, 0.55 and 0.67 inches below normal.
