Across Kentucky...temperatures are near 73 degrees west, near 64 degrees central, and near 69 degrees east. Current sky conditions are fair west, fair central, and fair east. In the west, relative humidity is near 31%, and the dew point is near 41 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 27%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 19%, and the dew point is near 25 degrees. Current drying conditions are good west, very good central, and very good east. Winds are from the northeast at 9 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are variable at 3 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are variable at 3 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 73 degrees at Paducah. The lowest temperature is 60 degrees at Covington.

Temperatures for the period averaged 50 degrees across the state which was 6 degrees cooler than normal and no change to the previous period. High temperatures averaged from 61 in the West to 64 in the East. Departure from normal high temperatures ranged from 9 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 5 degrees cooler than normal in the East. Low temperatures averaged from 41 degrees in the West to 39 degrees in the East. Departure from normal low temperature ranged from 5 degrees cooler than normal in the West to 2 degrees cooler than normal in the East. The extreme high temperature for the period was 86 degrees at LOUISA 1S and the extreme low was 22 degrees at MONTICELLO AWOS.

Precipitation (liq. equ.) for the period totaled 1.48 inches statewide which was 0.49 inches above normal and 150% of normal. Precipitation totals by climate division, West 1.57 inches, Central 1.48 inches, Bluegrass 1.50 inches and East 1.37 inches, which was 0.45, 0.49, 0.6 and 0.44 inches above normal. Portions of Montana were in the midst of a spring snowburst. Snowfall
amounts ranged up to 55 inches at Red Lodge, 61 inches at Nye Mine, and 72
inches at Mystic Lake. (David Ludlum)

Severe thunderstorms spawned 48 tornadoes in the Upper Midwest. Hardest hit
was northern Illinois where sixteen tornadoes touched down during the
afternoon and evening hours causing fifty million dollars damage. On that
Friday afternoon tornadoes struck Belvidere IL, and the Chicago suburb of
