Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Kansas
Based on observations at 700pm CDT, Thursday March 28, 2024

Across Kansas...temperatures are near 66 degrees west, near 64 degrees central, and near 66 degrees east. Current sky conditions are fair west, fair central, and fair east. In the west, relative humidity is near 15%, and the dew point is near 17 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 35%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 29%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. Winds are from the south at 15 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 20 mph with gusts at 31 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 16 mph with gusts at 29 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 74 degrees at Liberal. The lowest temperature is 62 degrees at Olathe Ind and Olathe Exe.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Friday through Wednesday

Strong southwest winds will affect southeast Kansas on Friday 
afternoon and early evening. See latest wind advisory for 
additional information. 

Very high grassland fire danger is expected across the Flint Hills
and south central Kansas on Friday afternoon and early evening. 

Chances for storms are increasing for Sunday night and especially 
Monday. In addition, severe storm chances are also increasing for 
Monday afternoon and evening, especially for areas east of 
Interstate 135.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
