Across Kansas...temperatures are near 62 degrees west, near 59 degrees central, and near 67 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, mostly sunny central, and sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 16%, and the dew point is near 15 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 49%, and the dew point is near 40 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 33%, and the dew point is near 37 degrees. Winds are from the southwest at 10 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the south at 17 mph with gusts at 25 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the southwest at 13 mph with gusts at 28 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 67 degrees at Manhattan and Concordia. The lowest temperature is 59 degrees at Wichita Intl.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
