Current sky conditions are cloudy west, cloudy central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 93%, and the dew point is near 50 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 64 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 96%, and the dew point is near 58 degrees. There is thunder central. Winds are from the north at 8 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the southeast at 20 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 18 mph with gusts at 32 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 73 degrees at Medicine Lodge. The lowest temperature is 51 degrees at Elkhart.

Very large hail is possible with the strongest storms, and possibly a tornado. Near critical fire weather conditions are forecast for extreme southwest Kansas today. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Friday through Wednesday Severe thunderstorms are expected Saturday afternoon and evening over south central Kansas. Very large hail is possible with the strongest storms, and possibly a tornado. Critical fire weather conditions are forecast for much of southwest Kansas for Saturday. Strong southwest winds and low humidity are forecast. SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT Storm spotters will likely be needed this afternoon and evening.
