Across Kansas...temperatures are near 70 degrees west, near 81 degrees central, and near 74 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, mostly sunny central, and partly sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 37%, and the dew point is near 43 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 30%, and the dew point is near 47 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 42%, and the dew point is near 50 degrees. Winds are from the northwest at 14 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the west at 15 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the west at 23 mph with gusts at 36 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 86 degrees at Medicine Lodge. The lowest temperature is 70 degrees at Olathe Exe and Goodland.

1214 PM MDT Fri Apr 26 2024 /114 PM CDT Fri Apr 26 2024/ DAY ONE TODAY AND TONIGHT A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible across portions of the outlook area this afternoon. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY There is a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms over much of the region Saturday afternoon and evening. Threats do include large hail, damaging winds and even tornadoes. Please stay tuned for further updates. APRIL 26TH HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS ...1834... Killer frosts were reported in the Deep South. The frost was quite severe around Huntsville AL, and highlighted a backward spring in the South that year. (David Ludlum) ...1978... An unusually strong occluded front swept out of the Gulf of Alaska and produced the first April thunderstorm of record at Fairbanks. Pea size hail fell northeast of Fairbanks from thunderstorms whose tops were less than 8000 feet. (The Weather Channel) ...1984... Severe thunderstorms associated with an intense cyclone spawned a total of forty-seven tornadoes in two days from Louisiana to Upper Michigan. The tornadoes killed 16 persons and injured 259 others.
