Cirrus clouds moved across western Illinois this evening, as a
band of rainfall slid through eastern Missouri. Temperatures late
evening were beginning to fall into the 60s.

The dry and seasonable weather pattern will continue through the
remainder of this week and into the weekend. As High pressure
slides toward the East Coast this weekend, temperatures will climb
back into the upper 80s to near 90 by Sunday.

Lows tonight will drop into the mid 50s to mid 60s. Highs Thursday
will peak in the upper 70s across northeast Indiana, increasing
southwest to the mid 80s in Missouri.

Across Illinois...temperatures are near 30 degrees north, near 29 degrees central, and near 27 degrees south. Current sky conditions are cloudy north, clear central, and clear south. In the north, relative humidity is near 78%, and the dew point is near 24 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 89%, and the dew point is near 26 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 100%, and the dew point is near 27 degrees. Winds are from the south at 5 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 25 degrees north. Winds are from the south at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 20 degrees central. A widespread frost and light freeze are anticipated early this
morning. Refer to the Special Weather Statement for details.

Fire danger will be heightened this afternoon, mainly for the 
southeast Missouri Ozarks.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Friday through Wednesday

Fire danger will be heightened Friday afternoon, mainly for 
western Kentucky from the Land Between the Lakes eastward.

A chance of storms returns to the forecast late this weekend into
early next week. The best chance for stronger storms is with a
cold front's approach Monday into Monday night.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
