High pressure stretched across the Mississippi River Valley on
Thursday, bringing mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer air to 
central and southeast Illinois. Early afternoon temperatures were 
in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

A late season winter storm will develop across the Midwest on
Friday, and persist into Saturday. This system will spread rain
across the region from the southwest, beginning Friday afternoon.
The rain will change to snow Friday night, from northeast Iowa, 
southeast into northern Illinois, and central Indiana. Several
inches of accumulation is possible in these areas, by Saturday
afternoon. Farther south where warmer temperatures will be found,
locally heavy rain of 1 to 1.5 inches is expected, for much of 
central and southern Illinois.

Low temperatures tonight will range from the mid 20s in northern
Illinois, to near 50 degrees in southern Missouri. Highs on Friday
will range from the mid 40s in northern Indiana, to the mid 60s in
southern Missouri.

Across Illinois...temperatures are near 48 degrees north, near 51 degrees central, and near 50 degrees south. Current sky conditions are fair north, cloudy central, and partly sunny south. In the north, relative humidity is near 30%, and the dew point is near 18 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 31%, and the dew point is near 22 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 46%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. Winds are from the northwest at 10 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the north at 5 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 7 mph south, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 54 degrees at Metropolis. The lowest temperature is 36 degrees at Waukegan.

Minor flooding will persist along the Illinois River from Havana 
to Beardstown through this weekend. 


Moderately rainfall with isolated thunderstorms are possible late
Friday evening and overnight Friday night, and could cause river 
levels on the Illinois to level off or increase again into next 
work week. Thunderstorms are possible again overnight Monday night
through Tuesday along with moderate to heavy rains.


Spotter activation is not anticipated through tonight.
