Current sky conditions are fair west, mostly cloudy central, and fair east. In the west, relative humidity is near 39%, and the dew point is near 18 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 58%, and the dew point is near 18 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 88%, and the dew point is near 25 degrees. Winds are from the east at 20 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 22 degrees central. Winds are from the west at 7 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 21 degrees east. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 41 degrees at GRAND JUNCTION and A. F. ACADEMY. The lowest temperature is 7 degrees at LEADVILLE.

Showers will increase in coverage during the overnight hours, with the most widespread snow over the central mountains. Any snow accumulations will be light, with values around 1-3 inches. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Friday through Wednesday Critical fire weather conditions will be possible each afternoon through Sunday, with greatest certainty over the far southeast plains. Mountain snow is expected to pick up on Sunday and last through at least Tuesday. There still exists some uncertainty with the incoming system, but there is also the chance for some wintry weather across parts of the lower elevations. SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT Weather spotters will not be needed today or tonight.

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel) ...1920... The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum) ...1997... Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
