.KEY MESSAGES...

- Accumulating snow and minor travel impacts across the northern
  mountains tonight through Friday night. More significant
  accumulations in the Rabbit Ears Pass and Park Range, and
  lighter accumulations in the I-70 Mountain Corridor. 

- A few showers spill onto the plains Friday afternoon and Friday
  night.

- Next storm system late Sunday into Monday night with mountain
  snow, and a mix of rain and snow likely for the plains. Mostly 
  light but there could be some impact for the mountains and 
  foothills.

Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Colorado
Based on observations at 800pm MDT, Thursday March 28, 2024

Across Colorado...temperatures are near 61 degrees west, near 53 degrees central, and near 55 degrees east. Current sky conditions are cloudy west, fair central, and fair east. In the west, relative humidity is near 22%, and the dew point is near 22 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 25%, and the dew point is near 18 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 32%, and the dew point is near 26 degrees. Winds are from the southwest at 3 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the southeast at 5 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the northwest at 3 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 61 degrees at GRAND JUNCTION. The lowest temperature is 25 degrees at MONARCH PASS.

Hazardous Weather Outlook For GARFIELD County,CO

 DAY ONE  Today and Tonight

Snow showers will build over the northern and a few central high
mountain ranges through the late morning and afternoon hours. Snow
will become more widespread across the north tonight as a cold
front arrives with support from aloft. There is a low probability
(>30%) of amounts over a foot through early Tuesday but travel is
likely to be impacted over the northern passes. An isolated
thunderstorm can not be ruled out tonight. 

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Friday through Wednesday

Mountain snow and a mix of valley rain and snow will be possible
each day from late tomorrow afternoon through Tuesday. The
arrival of the next bigger storm looks to be Sunday into Monday.  
Overall significant accumulations will occur in the mountains 
through this timeframe but the main impacts will continue to be 
during the overnight hours when snow will accumulate on roadways. 
Isolated thunderstorm development will be possible in the 
afternoons as well.

 SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT  

Spotter activation will not be needed today but any reports will
be welcome.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
