Across Arkansas...temperatures are near 34 degrees north, near 44 degrees central, and near 38 degrees south. Current sky conditions are clear north, mostly cloudy central, and partly cloudy south. In the north, relative humidity is near 88%, and the dew point is near 31 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 73%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 37 degrees. Winds are from the south at 3 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 3 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are calm south, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 48 degrees at Fort Smith. The lowest temperature is 33 degrees at Fayetteville.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION  
Gusty south winds will develop late Thursday night and Friday and
continue through the weekend. Fire weather concerns will increase
during this time period, with the greatest concern on Friday when
winds will be strongest and humidity values will be lowest. 
Thunderstorm chances will return late Sunday night into early
Tuesday as the next storm system moves into the area.

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
